Supernatural roguelike dungeon crawler game
Hollow Survivors is a premium action game developed by Danny Deer. It is a roguelike dungeon crawler featuring beautiful pixel graphics and supernatural themes. In it, players will slash their way through hordes of horrific monsters to reach the top of a dark tower and confront the evil who turned them into a monstrosity themselves.
Similar to games like Hades II and Ravenswatch, Hollow Survivors boasts procedurally generated levels with unique enemies to face and loot collect. A demo version is available for newcomers to check for a preview of what the gameplay will be like.
Hollow-fied
Hollow Survivors takes place in a dark fantasy world wherein an unknown evil cult has turned a group of people into monstrous Hollow creatures. You play as one of the last remaining of these abominations, and you are on a perilous mission to climb a mysterious tower and put a stop to this devilish sect once and for all and against all odds.
The game offers slick action wherein you will slash through enemies with a variety of weapons with unique playstyles while dashing past enemy attacks by the skin of your teeth. Level up and choose from random perks and bonuses to help you push through challenges and reach higher up the tower. Collects souls of the fallen, which you can use to purchase permanent upgrades for succeeding runs.
Along the way, you'll meet fellow Hollows with unique stories and experiences to share. Uncover hidden secrets and slowly rebuild your settlements for survivors to live in. Hollow Survivors could still use some tweaks with its combat, particularly with sluggish movements and inconsistent hitboxes that make it more complicated to coordinate attacks. Hopefully, these issues will be addressed promptly in a future update.
Promising, with more tweaks
All in all, Hollow Survivors is a promising roguelike dungeon crawler with impressive pixel graphics, an interesting story, and solid gameplay. There are multiple weapons with different playstyles to pick from, and the game offers a good challenge for fans of the genre. Despite the issues mentioned above, this is worth trying out and experiencing yourself.
